Elk Grove - Florin Amateur Radio Club Meeting Minutes
for August 9, 2014
Board Meeting called to order at 6:30p.m.
There was a quorum present for the Board meeting
1: Per the Treasurer, there is $931.96 in the Club account.
2: Minutes from the open August Board meeting were read and accepted.
3: Guests Ron Murdock and his wife were introduced. They will be making a presentation at the regular meeting.
4: Membership stands at 36
5: Announcements: We need to start planning for the Christmas party. It has been suggested that we don’t have it at a church. Polka Dot Motorcycle Club is looking for some of our members to help out with their races coming up. Dennis is looking into repeater service in the mountains. Arnold stated that he had good info on the 2mtr/440 cross banding repeater. Dennis is going forward with the postcards for membership mailing. He will be working on the formatting. We need topics for upcoming meetings. If you have anything forward it onto Eric.
6: Arnold showed up some extra books he has for sale. He has some BNC’s for sale also.

General Meeting called to order at 7:05p.m.
1: Introductions were made around the room.
2: Minutes from the August meeting were read with corrections made regarding the ARES meeting on Aug. 16th.
3: Membership stands at 36 members.
4: The Treasurers report stands at $931.96. The last expenditure was for food for Field Day.
5: Announcements: ARES meeting here at the Sheriffs Station on Aug 16th at 9:00a. Polka Dot Motorcycle Club looking for help for their Enduro Race in Grizzly Flat on Oct. 26th.Dennis did a drive through and is working on radio availability. Guests Ron Murdock and his wife talked about Pacificon 2014 Regional Convention in Oct. in Santa Clara Marriot Hotel. Hotel will run around $109 a day for Fri,Sat. and Sunday. Mr. Murdock displayed his collectible J-Pole ARRL Award. It is suggested that we all support the HR4969 bill to stop the loss of Ham band. There is a Hamfest in Lincoln on Sept 6th from 7:00a-12:00p.
6: We had show and tell at this point. Dave showed his Sony headset for a tv that was revamped for use with his radio. Arnold did a magnetics demo with bits and pieces. Dennis talked about the meteor shower that was to take place.
