Elk Grove - Florin Amateur Radio Club Meeting Minutes
for January 11, 2014
Board Meeting Called to Order at 6:00 p.m.
1: We need to update our ARRL listing
2: There was and ARES meeting held on 1/11/14, attended by a few of our members. The notes
of that meeting will be put in the newsletter.
3: It is suggested that we put together a list of basic duties for each position of the Board
4: Planning is still underway to obtain our 501(c)(3) status
5: There is going to be a Drill put on by Placer County,, tentative date is 4/26/14,,to be confirmed at a later date
6: Plans for the training at the February meeting are being looked at,,possibly a basic electricity course
7: Is there enough interest in there being a Field Day this year. Discussion on the pros and cons of the park used last year
8: A motion was made by Arnold and seconded by Steve and passed by voice vote. To allow newly licensed amateurs one free year of membership to our club if licensed in the current year. This is in hopes of getting more people interested in joining and staying.

General Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.
1: Treasurer's report and previous months’ minutes not available
2: Membership dues are due for 2014. Membership is up from 27 in 2012 to 34 in 2013. It was also suggested that if you are using other club repeaters you might consider sending that club a donation or maybe paying the membership fee to that club to help cover the costs incurred by that club for the use of the repeaters…just a thought
3: Discussion on whether or not there is enough interest in Field Day 2014. Fred and Bonnie to look into the possibility of having it at Rancho Seco as there were some problems with noise/interference at the park used last year. Pros and cons discussed regarding each location.
4: Arnold Harding put on a great presentation on “Basic Ham Radio Contesting”. Questions and answers followed.
